Talks
I knew I was in trouble when I heard students saying lines of my talks back to me. It was then when I began taking my speaking seriously.
There is no substitute for presenting an accurate Gospel. Reflecting on Scripture should wake the dead, not put masses to sleep. The worldview of preachers in the West is that they are poor comedians, religious bigots, obvious hypocrites or bearers of an irrelevant message. Nothing could misrepresent the message and person of Jesus Christ more. Here is the God who loved all and despised evil, who went to the sinful and spoke of repentance, and who went to the religious and preached grace. Jesus’ message was filled with power, hope and conviction. He was compassionate and offensive, merciful and uncompromising.
Over the past twelve years I’ve had many opportunities to present the person of Jesus Christ. It is, by far, the highest privilege to experience. My hope and vision is that my words shape accurately the mystery, wonder, power and grace of this homeless carpenter, this Savior-God, this Ransom King, and that lives would be changed to conform to His likeness.
